JD Film Productions is in the middle of production on a brand new feature length documentary on singer/songwriter Jay Hill and his band, The Dirty Coal River Band. Over the next few months, JD Film Productions will be following Jay and The Dirty Coal River Band around from tour date to tour date, capturing tons of footage for the film. The dvd will consist of concert footage and behind the scenes footage as well as interviews from the band, friends, family, musicians, etc. JD Film Productions has already captured several great interviews with WV Broadcasting Hall of Fame member Lew Dobbins and the one and only, "Dancing Outlaw" Jesco White. Both are huge supporters of The Dirty Coal River Band and its music.

JD Film Productions traveled to Cross Lanes, WV to capture The Dirty Coal River Band's last recording session with Ryan Weaver of Silver Speakers Studios. Brandon Shuping, mandolin player for Ralph Stanley, sat in on the session.

On January 10, 2009; The Dirty Coal River band had the opportunity to play the historic Sagebrush Roundup just outside of Fairmont, WV. Getting the opportunity to play the Sagebrush is truly an honor as it has had many stars on its stage since its inception in the late 1930's. Stars such as Grandpa Jones, Buddy Starcher, Cherokee Sue and Ralph Stanley; just to name a few. JD Film Productions was on hand to film the show and get several great interviews from the the people there. When it was all said and done, The Dirty Coal River Band received a very nice ovation and were asked to come back for a second show on March 14, 2009.

Prior to the show at the Sagebrush, the JD Film Productions crew accompanied Jay Hill and drummer Josh Hager to Weston, WV for a radio appearance at WHAW 980 AM. The interview was conducted by WHAW owner Steve Peters and retired WV Hall of Fame Broadcaster Lew Dobbins. Thanks to all that listened and called in.

Shamrock's Pub in Huntington, WV. The site of Jesco White's farewell performance was the site of The Dirty Coal River Band last perfomance. As expected, JD Film Productions was there to capture every second of the show. Thanks for all who participated in the interview as well as thanks to the Shamrock for its cooperation. Also, special thanks to Mark Totten & James Whittington for all their help in filming at the Shamrock. Thanks guys!

On March 28, JD Film Productions traveled to the home of Jay Hill for round 2 of in-depth interviews. Also in attendance were the Illstatic Nillaz, a rap group from Columbus, Ohio. The trio recently heard some of the new Jay Hill/Jesco White cd and approached Jay on doing a collaboration. On the soon to be released Illstatic Nillaz cd will be an out of this world rap rendition of 'Lets Go Honkytonkin' that features Jay Hill and Jesco White. JD Film Productions was able to capture a rare live acoustic perfomance of the song and it is spectacular. The Illstatic Nillaz will be joining Jay and the DCRB for a show at the Empty Glass in Charleston, WV on May 29, 2009. It should be an awesome show.

Speaking of The Empty Glass in Charleston, WV. Jay Hill and Jesco White recently rocked the house and JD Film Productions was there to capture every minute of it. Will there be a release dvd? Time will tell.
